On Friday, 02-11-11, I went and saw Ana Popovic and her fantastic band down at Famous Dave’s in Uptown. Wow!!
I’ve never seen Ana play live before and I was totally impressed. This “lady” can play the guitar and sing. I will go and see her every time she’s in the area. I guess I just didn’t get enough of her music. I haven’t checked her tour schedule, but I hope she will be playing a “Blues Festival” or two around the area this summer. I would like to photograph her and the band in an outdoor venue. The only bad thing about that would be that she would only play about an hour long set!
Each member of her band is a fabulous musician. During the evening each member would go do a solo that got the attention of the crowd.
I highly recommend everyone go and see this band. Roni Jonker on bass puts on an awesome solo. He’s very animated as well. I enjoyed watching Stephane Avellaneda on drums.
Prior to leaving I picked up her latest DVD, “An Evening at Trsimeno Lake. Live From The Heart of Italy”.
